Ole Hedegaard

Ole Hedegaard (tenor) trained at the Royal Danish Academy of Music and the Opera Academy in Copenhagen, and took private singing lessons with Vagn Thordal. He has been with the Royal Theatre since 1970 and worked at the Danish National Opera in Århus for twenty years from 1972, where he has sung around ?fty leading roles in all genres. At the Royal Danish Theatre he has sung roles like Tamino and Monostatos in Mozart’s The Magic Flute, Leander in Carl Nielsen’s Masquerade, Goro in Puccini’s Madame Butter?y, Bardolpho in Verdi’s Falstaff, and the Doctor in Poul Ruders’ The Handmaid’s Tale. He has further sung at the Aarhus Summer Opera, The Other Opera and Musikteatret Undergrunden, and has sung as a guest in among other places Bergen, Edinburgh and Malaysia. In 1979 he was awarded both the Artist’s Prize of the Danish Music Critics and the Aksel Schiøtz Memorial Grant.
