Mogens Gert Hansen took his diploma from the Royal Danish Academy of Music in 1992 under Professor Peer Birck and Lars Todberg Bertelsen. Further singing studies with Anna Reynolds and Kurt Westi. In the period 1986-94 he was with the Danish National Opera in Århus as a member of the chorus and as a soloist. In 1994 he was engaged by the Chorus of the Royal Danisb Opera at the Royal Theatre in Copenhagen, and two years later he made his debut as a soloist there. Mogens Gert Hansen has made his mark in a long succession of character and buffo roles including Mikkal Madsen in Youth and Folly, Dr. Caius in Falstaff, Goro in Madame Butterfly and Piet von Pils in Le Grand Macabre. In recent years he has appeared in TV recordings from the Royal Theatre, for example as First Priest in The Magic Flute, the Lamplighter in Manon Lescaut and Arv in Maskarade as well as the radio broadcast of Tales of Hoffmann from the Opera.
