Jákup Lützen

The Faroese viola player Jákup Lützen, a former member of Claudio Abbado’s Mahler Youth Orchestra, with whom he has performed at venues such as Royal Albert Hall, Concertgebouw, and Musikverein, currently occupies a viola chair in the Copenhagen Phil. In 2013, the Faroese Music Awards nominated him New Musician of the Year, and in 2017 he graduated from the soloist class (advanced post-graduate diploma) at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen, where he studied with professor Lars Anders Tomter. Jákup Lützen has been granted the Léonie Sonning Talent Prize and the Prize of the Copenhagen Phil Development Fund.
