DiamantEnsemblet

ensemble

DiamantEnsemblet is the Royal Danish Library’s own ensemble and is based in the Queen’s Hall in the ‘Black Diamond’ building on the Copenhagen waterfront. The ensemble is headed by the solo oboist of the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, Max Artved, and consists of ten musicians.

The ensemble became a reality in 2004 with Siemens as its principal sponsor and DR (Danish Broadcasting Corporation) as its media partner, and as such is the only ensemble of its kind in Denmark. Every year the ensemble plays six concerts in the Black Diamond; in addition DiamantEnsemblet has visited a few exclusive venues around Denmark.

DiamantEnsemblet has played with a number of star artists including András Schiff, Leif Ove Andsnes and Olli Mustonen. In 2005 the ensemble released its first CD on the Naxos label with music by among others Dvorák, and with Naxos it is also responsible for an international CD release of music by Ludvig Spohr. The ensemble has also recorded to discs of Carl Nielsen's chamber music for Dacapo.
