Copenhagen Wind Quintet

ensemble
The Copenhagen Wind Quintet was formed in 1978 by players from the capital's symphony orchestras, and it has since earned itself a prominent place in Danish musical life with numerous concerts, school presentations, and radio and television productions. Its repertoire ranges widely, from baroque to contemporary music, and it has given several premieres of new works. The quintet has won prizes at international chamber music competitions in Paris (1980), Belgrade (1981), and Colmar (1982). It was also nominated to represent Denmark at the biennial Young Nordic Soloists festival in Stockholm in 1982, and it has given concerts and broadcasts in Germany, France, Belgium, the former Yugoslavia, Israel, Sweden, and the Faroes. The Copenhagen Wind Quintet appeared at the Fifth International Chamber Music Festival at Katowice (Poland) in 1989 and at the Northern Lights Festival in Norway in 1991. It received the special award of the Danish Association of Musicians in 1991.
