Arshak Ikilikian

Arshak Ikilikian was born in Gyumri in Armenia in 1948. After military service in the Soviet Army and training as an electrical engineer, in 1972 he began studying music at the local music college. In 1976-81 he studied composition at the State Conservatory in Yerevan with among others Gregory Yegiazarian and Aram Khatchaturian. In 1992 Ikilikian moved with his family to Denmark. Since his arrival in Denmark he has tried to play as active a role in Danish musical life as he did in his native Armenia. Ikilikian has composed more than 250 works, including a ballet, two symphonies, seven symphonic novellas, a piano concerto, three string quartets, violin, viola, cello and piano sonatas, songs, choral works, bagatelles, chamber music for various instruments, music for children and computer music.
