Christian Tetzlaff

The German violinist Christian Tetzlaff is recognised today as one of the most inspiring musicians of his generation. He has been engaged by many of the world's leading orchestras including the Berlin and Vienna Philharmonic, the Boston and Chicago Symphony, all the major London orchestras as well as the NHK Orchestra Tokyo and is a regular guest with major festivals like Ravinia, Tanglewood, Salzburg, Schleswig-Holstein, the London Proms and the Edinburgh Festival. Equally at home in the classical, romantic repertoire and 20th century music, Tetzlaff sets standards with his interpretations of the violin concertos by Beethoven, Brahms and Tschaikovsky as well as Berg, Ligeti, Schönberg and Schostakovitch. With his special affinity for chamber music, he collaborates regularly with such distinguished colleagues as Boris Pergamenschikov, Heinrich Schiff, Tanja Tetzlaff, Tabea Zimmermann, Leif Ove Andsnes, Matthias Kirschnereit and Lars Vogt. Christian Tetzlaff has made a number of recordings, among others the complete Bach Solo Sonatas and Partitas, which were recognized with the esteemed Diapason d’Or. Other recent releases include a duo recording with Leif Ove Andsnes with works by Janacek, Debussy, Ravel and Nielsen and the complete Mozart Violin Concerti with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie.
