King Frederik IX conducts The Royal Danish Orchestra
The Danish Monarchy has been interested in music for several generations. Frederick IX was a frequent guest in the Royal Danish Theater, where he could attend the performance with his score, and for more than 30 years he was a beloved guest conductor. For King Frederik IX, the work as conductor was a private matter - he once broke this principle, however, when in 1948 he agreed to allow a number of his recordings to be published by a record company (Tono) on condition that the records should be released in favour of the newly formed UN Refugee Agency.
