Duo Danica's characteristic feature is a delicate oboe timbre swathed in soft organ sounds. The duo's new Open Space CD takes its name from Anders Nordentoft's atmospheric opening work Lightings, where the oboe seems to break through the dense organ clouds just as the sun can break through a stained-glass window. Duo Danica also engages subtly with four other Danish composers, each of whom has composed especially for the duo: Tage Nielsen, Leif Thybo, Ole Schmidt and Peter Møller.
