Four Dacapo releases short-listed for the P2 Music Award
The P2 Music Award (P2 Prisen) 2020 will be awarded on 8 February 2020. Among those short-listed are four releases from Dacapo with string quartets by Nancy Dalberg and Pelle Gudmundsen-Holmgreen respectively, Karl Aage Rasmussen’s Vivaldi recomposition and six new works for solo viola.
A jury from Danish Broadcasting Corporation P2 has just selected the nine albums of classical music which have made the strongest impression on them in 2019 and which have therefore been short-listed for the P2 Music Award (P2 Prisen) 2020. Among these nine are four releases from Dacapo.
In the Classical Album of the Year category, the recording by Nordic String Quartet of Nancy Dalberg’s collected string quartets has been nominated.
In the Album of the Year with New Classical Music, all the three short-listed releases are from Dacapo: once again Nordic String Quartet has been nominated – in this category for their recording of the first album in the series with the complete string quartets of Pelle Gudmundsen-Holmgreen. The other nominations are Concerto Copenhagen’s recording of Karl Aage Rasmussen’s recomposition of Vivaldi’s iconic The Four Seasons and the recording by the Odense Symphony Orchestra violist, Rafaell Altino, of six new works by six Danish composers.
All the albums are also short-listed for the P2 Listeners’ Prize. On DR’s website you can now listen and vote for the classical release of 2019 you like best. The one with the most votes will be this year’s winter of the P2 Listeners’ Prize.
P2 Prisen will take place in DR Koncerthuset on 8 February 2020. At the prize-giving ceremony one of those performing will be the Danish bass singer Stephen Milling, who has been announced in advance as P2 Artist of 2020.
