Solo concertos played by recognised soloists from Northern Europe
Solo concertos are key works in Bent Sørensen’s exploration and development of the classical symphony orchestra, and in 2020 the album Concertos was released by Dacapo, with three instrumental concertos by Sørensen, written for and performed by three outstanding soloists from Norther Europe: Leif Ove Andsnes in the Second Piano Concerto La Mattina, Martin Fröst in the Clarinet Concerto Serenidad, and Tine Thing Helseth, who, in the Trumpet Concerto, brings alive Sørensen’s fascination with the beauty and vulnerability of Venice.
At the P2 Prize Concert, Tine Thing Helseth will perform as soloist in the performance of Bent Sørensen’s trumpet concerto. In the below video, you can hear Helseth talk about working on the trumpet concerto.
