Kammermusik
Knudåge Riisager studied in Paris in the 1920s and became a pioneer of the Neo-Classicist style in Danish music. He was an outsider in that sense that he dared to formulate his generation's only weighty alternative to the dominant tradition after Carl Nielsen. The early chamber music works can be understood both as provocative miniatures of considerable originality and vitality, and as preliminary studies for later and greater achivements, first and foremost the ballets Qarrtsiluni, Slaraffenland and Månerenen.
